While focusing on client needs is crucial, providers may encounter dilemmas and need to evaluate various options. Understanding the factors that can lead to negative outcomes is important.\nObjectives:\n– Learn about professional codes of ethics.\n– Compare codes, law, policy, and professional obligations.\n– Examine licensure board complaints and sanctions.\n– Discuss AI, Social Media, and Telehealth.\n– Understand the importance of advocacy\n– Personal and professional responsibility to Self-Care\nPresenter:\nJeri W Stevens, owner of Chandler Bay Resources, is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and counselor educator from Maine. With nearly 5 decades of experience, she is an assistant professor and clinical coordinator at Husson University, supervises school counselors, mental health clinicians, and social workers as well as facilitates ethics and stress resilience training, organizational leadership consultation, and mindfulness sports performance training for elite athletes.\nAs the owner of Chandler Bay Resources, Jeri developed ethics and clinical supervision trainings and founded the Clinical Supervision Institute, training hundreds of licensed professionals in supervision. She has presented nationally and in Canada on these topics.\nJeri advocates for the mental health profession, serving on the Board for Counseling Professionals Licensure in Maine, and has championed issues like licensure, insurance reimbursement, and Medicare inclusion. She is a three-time president of the Maine Mental Health Counselors Association, mentor, past ethics chair of the American Mental Health Counselors Association and served on a multitude of AMHCA and ACA national committees.\nAwards include:\n– Public and Community Service Award from AMHCA (2001-2002, 2016-2017)\n– Janine M. Bernard Outstanding Supervisor of the Year Award (2017)\n– John Parkman Service to the Profession of Counseling Award (2018, 2024)\n– Leadership Award in the Area of the Counseling Compact from AMHCA (2021-2022)\nContact hours:\n6 contact hours for social workers, licensed clinical professional counselors, and behavioral health professionals\n6 category I contact hours for psychologists. CCSME is a pre-approved sponsor and provider of Professional Education Activities for Psychologists.\n6 contact hours for Alcohol and Drug Counselors. This course has been approved by Co-Occurring Collaborative Serving Maine (CCSME), as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider. NAADAC Provider #324712.
